Ingredients
- 1 c. sugar
- 3/4 c. butter, softened and divided
- 1/2 t. vanilla extract
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 T. baking powder
- 1-1/8 t. salt, divided
- 1 c. root beer, chilled and divided
- 2 c. powdered sugar
- 2 to 4 T. milk

Preparation
Step 1
Combine sugar, 1/2 cup butter, vanilla, eggs, flour, baking powder, one teaspoon salt and 2/3 cup root beer in a large bowl. Blend with an electric mixer on low speed; beat for 3 minutes on medium speed. Pour into a greased and floured 8"x8" baking pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes, until a toothpick tests clean.
Meanwhile, beat together remaining butter, remaining salt, powdered sugar and milk in a bowl. Add remaining root beer; beat to desired consistency. Spread frosting over cooled cake.
Serves 8 to 10.
