Ingredients

  • Filling:
  • 1 C sugar
  • 1 C jam (Smucker's blackberry)
  • 2 C flour
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 C pecans, chopped
  • 1/2 C buttermilk
  • 1/2 C butter, softened
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 1 C sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 12 oz can Pet milk
  • 1/2 C butter
  • 2 T flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • Cook in double boiler until thick, stirring constantly. Cool before icing cake.

Preparation

Step 1

Cream sugar and butter. Add eggs one at a time. Beat well and add jam and buttermilk. Add sifted dry ingredients. Bake in three 9" pans or a 9 x 13" pan slightly greased at 350 °F for 30-45 minutes. Cool and ice with cooled filling.
