Basic French Vinaigrette

You'll be coming back to this vinaigrette for your salads over and over. Simple, basic- yet elegant. Taken from The NY Times Cook Book- a must for any cook.

Ingredients
- 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 2 tsp dijon mustard
- 6 tbsp olive oil
- salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
- 1 tsp minced garlic

Step 1
1. Put the vinegar and mustard in a bowl and stir with a wire whisk. Gradually add the oil, stirring rapidly with the whisk.
2. Stir in the salt, pepper and garlic.
