  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/4 oz. dry active yeast
  • 2 3/4 cups all purpose flour, divided
  • 1 tsp.sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tbs. olive oil
  • pizza sauce
  • desired toppings

Preparation

Step 1

Place warm water in a bowl, stir in yeast and let stand for 5 minutes.

In a large bowl whisk together 2 1/2 cups flour, sugar.

Make a well in the center and add olive oil and yeast mixture, stirring just until dough comes together and forms a ball.

Knead 5 minutes, shape dough into a ball and place in a bowl that has been lightly coated with olive oil. Turn dough to coat and cover bowl and let rise in a warm place for 2 hours.

During the last 30 minutes of rising, heat oven to 450. Remove and punch down dough.

Roll dough to fit a deep dish pizza pan or 2 individual pizza pans, top dough with sauce and desired toppings.

Bake at 450 for 30 minutes or until crust is golden brown.
