  • 1 3/4 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp cocoa
  • 1 3/4 cup flour
  • 1 pkg. (12 oz) chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 3/4 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup sugar

Step 1

In a mixing bowl, pour wate over oatmeal. Allow to stand 10 minutes. Add sugar and butter, stirring until the butter melts. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Sift flour, soda, cocoa and salt together. Add to butter mix well. Stir in half of chip. Pour into greased 13" X 9" X 2" baking pan. Sprinkle top of cake with walnuts and remaining chips. Bake at 350 about 40 minutes
