  • 1 stick butter, melted
  • 36 Waverly wafers (crackers), do not substitute
  • 2-3 cans asparagus, well-drained
  • 4 Tbsp butter
  • 3 Tbsp flour
  • 1/2 C milk
  • 1 jar Old English cheese
  • toasted almonds

Preparation

Step 1

Combine melted butter with crushed crackers and spread half in an 8 x 8" pan. Top with asparagus. In saucepan, melt 4 Tbsp butter. Stir in flour and combine well. Slowly add milk, whisking out any lumps; add cheese. Pour over asparagus mixture and top with remaining cracker mixture. Top with almonds and bake at 350 °F for 20-25 minutes or until very hot.
