Sweet and Sour Meatballs 1 Picture

Ingredients

  • 1-1/4 lb ground beef
  • 1 med onion grated
  • 1 egg
  • 8 soda crackers (Crushed)
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup water
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 2 tablespoons butter /margarine or oil
  • 2 cups ginger ale
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

Step 1


In a large bowl combine beef, grated onion, egg, crackers and enough water to absorb cracker crumbs. Season with salt and pepper and roll into bite size balls. Brown meatballs and chopped onions in butter/margarine or oil - drain on paper towel.
In a large skillet stir together ginger ale, ketchup and brown sugar - add meatballs and onions and simmer lightly for 50 - 60 minutes until sauce thickens and reduces. As sauce thickens stir frequently to prevent burning.

Makes 100 appetizers

Can also be baked in the over 325F - 250F stir occasionally
