  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2/3 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. cocoa
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. chopped walnuts

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla until well blended. Measure the flour by the dripping method, or by sifting. Blend the dry ingredients; and mix in. Stir in the nuts. Spread mixture in well greased pan (8 x 8 x 2 inch size). Bake for 30 minutes. Cool; cut in 2 inch squares. Makes about 16 brownies.
