Ingredients
- Topping:
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 3/4 cup regular oats
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
- 1/3 cup chilled butter or stick margarine, cut into small pieces
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- Apples:
- 6 Golden Delicious apples (about 3 pounds), peeled and cut into 1/4-inch slices
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Step 1
Preheat the oven to 375 F.
For the topping: In a large bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, oats, cinnamon and salt, and toss to blend. Add the butter and rub in with your fingertips until the mixture stays together in moist clumps. Stir in the walnuts.
For the apples: In another large bowl, combine the apples, brown sugar and cinnamon and toss well. Spoon into a 9-inch square baking dish and sprinkle with the topping. Bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
