Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line several baking sheet with parchment paper. In small bowl, sift flour, baking soda and salt together, set aside. Using electric mixer on medium speed, cream butter, sugars and vanilla together in a medium-size bowl until light and fluffy, 1-1/2 to 2 minutes. Stop the mixer twice during the process to scrape the bowl with a rubber spatula. Add eggs and beat on medium speed until they are blended, about 30 seconds. Scrape bowl. Add chocolate chips and blend until they are mixed in, 5-8 seconds. Add nuts and coconut, if using, and mix until blended, 5-8 seconds more. Drop the cookie dough by heaping tablespoons 2” apart onto prepared baking sheets. Bake until edges are dark golden and centers are light and slightly puffed up 9-11 minutes. Remove cookies from oven and allow them to cool on sheets. Makes 24 large cookies.
