Ingredients
- 2 1/2 c whole milk
- 1 tbsp vanilla
- 1 c sugar
- 2/3 c cake flour
- 5 egg yolks
- 2 tsp salted butter

Preparation
Step 1
Put milk and vanilla in saucepan and bring to simmer over medium heat
Whip sugar, flour and egg yolks. Ladle a cup of milk-vanilla mixture into bowl and beat to temper the yolks
Add yolk mixture to pot and beat with hand mixer until thick and creamy, 1 min
Remove pot from heat and add the butter and whip for 2 min to thicken cream
Transfer to bowl and refrigerate for at least 6 hrs
Will keep for 1 week
To make chocolate custard cream, add 1 1/2 oz melted, cooled unsweetened chocolate along with the butter
