Ingredients

  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • 2 tbs. water
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cups mushrooms
  • 1 tsp. dried thyme
  • 2 tbs. flour
  • 1 cup beef stock

Step 1

Mix beef with water, salt, and pepper. Shape mix into 4 ½ inch thick patties. Chill. Brown the patties over medium heat and then transfer onto a plate and set aside.

Drain fat from the pan and add the onions, cooking over medium heat until soft. Add the mushrooms and thyme, cooking, stirring occasionally until mushrooms are golden. Sprinkle the mushrooms with the flour, stirring one minute and then adding the stock, a little at a time, stirring to prevent lumps. Bring the mix to a boil, then reduce and cook until thickened. Add pattie, cover and simmer 15 minutes.
