Ingredients

  • 1 ham bone
  • 1 lb split peas, rinsed
  • 1 1/2 cups ham, cubed
  • 1 1/2 cups celery, chopped
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 cup carrot, chopped
  • 4 tsps curry powder
  • 1 tbsp majoram
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 6 cups water
  • Salt to taste

Preparation

Step 1

In a crock pot, place the ham bone. Add the peas, ham, celery, carrot and onion. Season with the curry powder, majoram and pepper. Place the bay leaves on top. Add the water. Cook on low setting for 9-11 hours or on high setting for 4 1/2 - 5 1/2 hours.

Remove the bay leaves. Strip the ham from the ham bone and remove the bone. Season with salt to taste. Serve with French bread.
