Ingredients

  • 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 cup butter or margarine, room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed firmly
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • OPTIONAL: 1 cup chopped nuts

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375°

In a small bowl, combine flour, soda and salt.

In large bowl, with wooden spoon, cream margarine, vanilla and sugars together.

Add eggs and stir until combined.

Next, add flour mixture in 3 parts to butter mixture, incorporating each addition thoroughly.

At this point feel the dough. You should be able to roll it in your hands and not have any stick to them. If dough seems too mushy, add more flour, 2 tbsp. at a time, until dough does not stick to your hands. Mix in chocolate chips.

Form dough into balls the size of your choice and place apart on cookie sheet. Bake 10 minutes. Begin checking cookies at 8 minutes or so--you don't want them to get overdone.

Cool cookies on wire rack.
