Preparation
Step 1
, that some girlfriends and I had some fun with Birthday Cake Shots a recent birthday get-together? I discovered cake shots after perusing the Pinnacle vodka site while I was planning cakey drinks to make at the party, and there was no way I was letting that go. I probably don’t have to tell you that bringing out cake vodka, whipped cream, sprinkles and more during a birthday party (or anytime) will definitely elicit some serious party-goer enthusiasm.
Even though I’m not a frequent alcohol drinker, discovering cake flavoured vodka has been a pretty life-changing experience. I suddenly find myself randomly texting friends & family when I discover a new cake martini variation and googling things like “cake shooter recipes.” And I may or may not have started to carry sprinkles in my evening bag. Oh wait, I was already doing that.
1 teaspoon (5 g) dry white cake mix
Shake all ingredients in a martini shaker with ice and strain into sprinkle-rimmed (optional) shooter or shot glass and top with whipped cream and more sprinkles.
The dry cake mix dissolves right into the drink when you shake it up in the martini shaker, I promise.
If you can only find the cake vodka, you can always use more in place of the whipped cream vodka or chocolate liqueur–it’s good both ways! Or, so they tell me. *ahem* You actually can’t go wrong–you can improvise with any sweet liqueur along with the cake vodka. For some reason it all seems to work. Again, so they tell me.

I don’t drink alcohol but I’d make the effort to eat one (or more) of these cake shots… ;) Lovely!
How yummy! Cake vodka! I never knew! Looks like I’ll be adding this to my shopping list! My birthday is next month so i may make these along with cake!
cake flavoured vodka would make anything instantly better…these sound so fabulous!
Cake vodka is life changing! I made a cake for a friend’s birthday using the vodka incorporated into homemade whipped cream, over a chocolate cake with maraschino cherries. Another drink to try is mixing the vodka with a glass of pineapple juice and adding a hint of grenadine, top with whipped cream and a cherry on top. Tastes just like a pineapple upside down cake. I am relatively new to baking and I have seen on TV cake shows where decorations like fondant are attached with vodka to the cake, wouldn’t it be awesome to use cake vodka instead of regular to add just a hint of cake-ness after the alcohol evaporated? Yes, please!
OMG these would most certainly send any self confessed cakeholic into rehab! The “oirish” would certainly give these a “shot” on Paddys Day…..a green white and orange version springs to mind.
these are adorable!! I would never think of putting bday cake mix in but it sounds so perfect!
sweetapolita! Can I just say…I have absolutely fallen head over heels with you and your sweets! U R Divine! Love Love Love…You make my eyes, heart and soul happy!
Where can you get those shot glasses like in the pic?? :) Can’t wait to make!!
Too bad alcohol and dairy doesn’t mix too well in your stomach.
For a non-alcoholic version, substitute Jones cream soda for the vodkas. I also add the soda to the alcohol version to make it a little less strong and even slightly refreshing! So good!
Oh My Gosh!!!!! okay,,, now instead of wanting to give my birthday away…and not age another year….. these make me say… bring it on……I was thinking of trying the cookie dough vodka from Pinnacle,, but I think this one will be next…… thank you will let you know how the party ends :)
I will try this and add the Alcohol Infused Whipped Cream instead. Woo hoo! :)
I really want to make these for my party!! How much in advance can these be made so I don’t have to take time out of my party to prepare? Can’t wait to try this!!
I’d also like to try to make in advance, did you ever try and see if you could do ahead?
I made these at a friends birthday party that I hosted and they were a big hit! I used more cake in place of the chocolate liquor. I am making them again tomorrow for my room mates birthday and I am trying them with UV Chocolate cake vodka. Hopefully they are even better than last time!
Three Olives also makes a great cake flavored vodka! I like the vodka on its own, but adding the whipped chream and sprinkles makes it that much more fun! Great presentation and excellent photography. Cheers!
Questions……. could I make these and store them in the fridge for a day???
