Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water ~110 degrees F
  • 1 packet dry active yeast
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1 egg

Preparation

Step 1

Combine water, yeast, honey and olive oil in a standing mixing bowl (with dough hook).

Stir until just combined and let sit for 5 minutes (or until the yeast starts to foam).

With your mixer on "low", add flour and mix for 10 minutes.

Knead dough on a floured board for 4 minutes.

Coat a bowl with a thing layer of olive oil and place the dough in the bowl.

Let rise for one hour.

Punch down dough and separate into two separate parts.

Form into balls, place on a baking sheet and let rise for 20 minutes.

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.

Brush the dough balls with beaten egg, score the tops and bake for 40 minutes.

Once baked and cooled, carve out the middle of the dough balls, fill with your favorite soup and ENJOY!
