Ingredients
- 4 eggs, lightly beaten
- 1 c half-and-half or light cream
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 8 slices dry white or whole wheat bread
- 2 Tbsp butter or vegetable oil
- maple-flavored syrup
- sliced bananas (optional)

Preparation
Step 1
1 In a shallow bowl, beat together eggs, half-and-half, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg. Dip bread slices into egg mixture, coating both sides.
2 In a very large skillet or on a griddle, melt 1 tablespoon of the butter over medium heat. Add half of the bread slices and cook for 4 to 6 minutes or until golden, turning once. Repeat with remaining bread slices and the remaining butter. Serve with maple syrup and sliced bananas.
3 (when I want to dry my bread, I will put them in the toaster on low)
