Ingredients

    (15-oz) box raisin bran

  • 1

    cup melted shortening

  • 3

    cups sugar

  • 4

    eggs beaten

  • 1

    quart buttermilk

  • 5

    cups flour

  • 5

    tsp soda

  • 2

    tsp salt

Directions

Mix bran, sugar, flour, soda and salt in very large mixing bowl or 8 qt saucepan. Add beaten eggs, shortening, buttermilk and mix well. Store in covered container in refrigerator. Bake in 400 degree oven for 15-20 minutes or until well done. Makes a very large batch. Keeps well in refrigerator. Easy to cut in half.
