Ingredients

  • 2

    cups milk

  • 2

    egg yolks, beaten (save whites)

  • ¾

    cup sugar

  • ¼

    cup cornstarch

  • 2

    T. butter

  • ½

    teaspoon salt

  • 1

    teaspoon vanilla

  • Meringue:

  • 2

    egg whites

  • tsp. cream of tartar

  • 4

    T. sugar

  • 1

    drop vanilla

Directions

Mix and cook until thick. Add butter and vanilla; pour in baked pie shell. Top with meringue; brown in 375 degree oven. Meringue: Beat egg whites and cream of tartar until stiff. Add sugar and vanilla.
