  • 2 LG. Navel oranges, sliced crosswise
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup hot water
  • 1/4 cup sugar (for coating)

Step 1

Remove peel from orange slices and cut circles in half. Place peel in saucepan, cover with cold water and bring to a boil, drain. Do this 4-5 times. Drain and put on plate. In same saucepan, heat 1/2 cup sugar and water. Stirring constantly until sugar is dissolved. Add orange peel and cook slowly until syrup is reduced to half. Remove peel and roll in 1/4 cup sugar coating throughly, dry on waxed paper.
