Ingredients
- 2/3 c lard
- 2/3 c sugar
- 1 c boiling water
- 1 c sorghum (maple flavor)
- 2 eggs
- 2 c flour
- 2 teaspoons soda
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves
- 3/4 teaspoon salt

Preparation
Step 1
Mix the lard, sugar, water, sorghum, and eggs.
Sift in the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and salt.
Bake at 325 degrees for 35-40 minutes. Serve with whipped cream and lemon glaze.
