Chocolate Chip Cookies

Traditional Nestle Toll House cookies

Ingredients

• 1 1/2 c. shortening
• 1 1/2 c. sugar
• 1 1/2 c. brown sugar
• 4 eggs, beaten
• 2 tsp. baking soda
• 4 1/2 c. flour
• 2 tsp. salt
• 2 tsp. baking powder
• few drops hot water
• 1 large pkg. chocolate morsels
• 2 tsp. vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Combine the soda, flour, salt and baking powder and set aside.

With a mixer in a large bowl, mix together the shortening and sugars.

Add eggs and blend.

Add the dry ingredients slowly in batches, mixing throughout.

Add the water and mix.

Add the chocolate and vanilla and mix.

Drop by teaspoon on a greased baking sheet. Bake at 350 for about 10-12 minutes. Cookies should be soft in the center and starting to brown around the edges. Let stand for a minute, then remove to a cooling rack or brown paper bag cut to flatten.

Makes about 10 dozen cookies.
