  • 1 loaf italian bread
  • 2 garlic cloves peeled and halved
  • 1 cup chopped tomato
  • 1 cup chopped bell pepper
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 T fresh chopped basil
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 tsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 small garlic clove, minced
  • black pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup grated asiago cheese



Step 1

Put all ingredients, except bread, halved garlic cloves and cheese in a bowl and toss thoroughly - cover and refrigerate until ready to use.

Slice the desired amount of bread and broil until golden brown on both sides

Remove slices from broiler and rub with halved garlic cloves - discard the garlic

Place mound of tomato salad on each slice of bread, sprinkle with cheese and briefly broil again until cheese melts

serve immediately
