Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef, preferably chuck
  • 4 (1-ounce) cubes American cheese
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • 8 slices rye bread
  • Dill pickle chips

Preparation

Step 1

Divide ground beef into 4 loose balls.

Press 1 cube American cheese into center of each and pinch meat around it; flatten into a patty. Make a shallow indentation in center of each patty with your thumb, taking care not to expose cheese. Season with salt and pepper.

Heat grill to medium-high. Grill patties over direct heat 10 to 12 minutes, flipping once.

Lightly toast rye bread. Serve burgers on rye bread topped with pickle chips.
