Ingredients

  • 2 lbs prawns, peeled and deveined (20 to 21 count) 900 g
  • 2-3 Tbsp. sesame seeds 30-45
  • 1 lime 1
  • 3 Tbsp. oyster sauce 45 mL
  • 1 Tbsp. soy sauce 15 mL
  • 1 clove garlic, minced 1
  • 1 Tbsp. minced fresh ginger 15 mL
  • 1 Tbsp. chili paste 15 mL
  • 2 Tbsp. corn syrup 30-mL
  • 2 Tbsp. sesame oil 30 mL
  • 1 Tbsp. grated carrots 15 mL
  • 1 green onion, sliced 1

Preparation

Step 1

Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the prawns and cook for 3 to 4 minutes. Drain and allow to cool. To toast the sesame seeds, place in a dry pan over medium heat. Be sure to keep the pan moving, as once the oils begin to be released, browning occurs quickly.

Juice the lime into a bowl and add all the remaining ingredients.
When the prawns have cooled, add them to the marinade and allow to marinate for at least 10 minutes. To serve, place on a plate and sprinkle the sesame seeds over top.
