Ingredients
- Buttermilk substitution:
- 2 1/2 C. flour
- 1 1/2 C. brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2/3 C. butter
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 1/3 C. buttermilk
- 4 tsp. lemon juice
- 1 1/4 C. milk
- Stir together and let stand for 5 minutes before using.

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 ̊F. Grease 9 by 13 pan. Combine flour, brown sugar and salt in a bowl. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs; set aside ½ cup. Stir baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and nutmeg into remaining crumb mixture. In another bowl combine eggs and butter milk. Add to flour mixture. Pour into greased pan. Sprinkle ½ cup crumb mixture on top. Bake for 35-40 minutes. Serve warm.
