- 6 slices thick-cut bacon, roughly chopped
- 2 pounds Brussels sprouts,
- trimmed and quartered
- 8 ounces mixed mushrooms,
- sliced
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 (8-ounce) can sliced water
- chestnuts, drained and rinsed(Optional)

Step 1
1. In a large Dutch oven, cook bacon over medium-high heat until crispy. Remove bacon, and drain on paper towels, reserving 3 tablespoons rendered bacon fat in Dutch oven.
2. Add Brussels sprouts to Dutch oven, and cook over medium-high heat, stirring 3 to 4 times, until Brussels sprouts begin to caramelize,10 to 12 minutes. Add mushrooms and broth. Cover, and reduce heat to medium.
3. Cook, stirring frequently, until Brussels sprouts are fork tender, 15 to 20 minutes. Remove from heat. Stir in reserved bacon and water chestnuts.
