Ingredients

  • 12 potatoes (4 lbs)
  • One stick of butter
  • 6 tbsp flour
  • 5 cups milk
  • 1 large onion
  • 3 cups ham
  • Basil
  • Oregano
  • Pepper
  • Paprika
  • Garlic

Preparation

Step 1

Peel and thinly slice potatoes.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Melt butter in large saucepan. Blend in flour and spices. Cook mixture over low heat till smooth and bubbly. Slowly pour in milk. Heat to boiling.
Line bottom of 4 quart casserole w/layer of potatoes, overlapped.
Chop onion and use ½ of it to top first layer of potatoes.
Cube ham and top layers of onions with ½ of it.
Place another layer of potatoes, than onion, than ham, using the rest.
Pour butter, milk, flour, spices over entire pan.
Bake about 2 hours at 350 degrees. Allow to stand 10-15 minutes.
