Ingredients
- 2-3/4 cups - flour
- 1/3 cups - sugar
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 3/4 - granulated salt
- 2/3 cup - raisins
- 1 tbsp - caraway seeds
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup - buttermilk
- 1/4 cup - flour
- (optional)
- butter and jam

Method:
Heat oven to 325° Line a large cookie sheet with parchment paper.
combine 2 3/4 cups flour, sugar, baking powder and soda, and salt in a large bowl; stir buttermilk- egg mixture into dry ingredients until just blended (dough will be sticky)
Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup flour onto a work surface. Knead dough into flour and shape into a 6-inch deep X across the top of the loaf.
Bake until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, about an hour. Transfer to a wire rack to cool. Makes twenty 1/2 inch slices.
