- 2 pounds fresh green beans, trimmed
- 8 slices bacon
- 1 cup diced onion
- 1/3 cup cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Preparation
Step 1
Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add green beans and return to a boil. Cook 3 to 4 minutes and drain.
Cook bacon in a skillet until browned and crisp, about 5 minutes. Remove to a paper-towel-lined plate and pour off all but 2 tbsp drippings. Add onion to skillet and saute until softened, 5 minutes. Crumble bacon and add to skillet with vinegar, sugar and pepper. Cook until sugar is dissolved and mixture is bubbly, about 4 minutes. Add green beans; toss to coat and heat through.
