Amish Friendship Bread
Do NOT use any type of metal spoon or bowl for mixing. Do NOT refrigerate. If air gets in the bag let it out. It is normal for the batter to rise, bubble and ferment.
Day 1 - do nothing. this is the day you received the batter.
Day 2 - mush the bag
Day 3 - mush the bag
Day 4 - mush the bag
Day 5 - mush the bag
Day 6 - Add to the bag: 1 cup of flour, 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of milk and mush the bag.
Day 7 - mush the bag
Day 8 - mush the bag
Day 9 - mush the bag
Day 10 - mush the bag and follow the rest of the directions

- Start:
- 1 cup flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup milk
- After day 10:
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1 1/2 cups guar
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- To the remaining batter in the bowl (approx 1 1/2 to 2 cups) ADD:
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup raisins or nuts
- 1 cup oil
- 2 cups flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 large instant vanilla pudding
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- You'll also need:
- 1/2 cup sugar and 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon mixed together for dusting

Step 1
After 10 days:
Pour contents of the bag into a non-metal bowl. Add 1 1/2 cups flour, 1 1 /2 cups sugar, 1 1/2 cups milk and mix. Then, measure out 4 separate batter of one cup each and put them into gallon zip lock bags. Keep one for yourself (to use for the next ten days) and five the other three to friends along with a copy of this recipe.
Preheat oven to 325.
to the remaining batter in the bowl add:
3 eggs
1 cup sugar
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup raisins or nuts
1 cup oil
2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup milk
1 large instant vanilla pudding
2 tsp cinnamon
Grease 2 large loaf pans, Dust with half the mixture of sugar and sinnamon. Pour batter evenly into the pans and sprinkle remaining sugar mixture over the batter. Bake 45-60 mins at 325.
Cool until bread loosens from the pan evenly and turn out onto serving dish. Serve warm or cold. You can also make muffin (same temp for 30 mins, makes 2 doz)
