Ingredients

  • Crust:
  • 1 can sliced apples, drained and chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 2 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup Crisco
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • oil
  • powdered sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Mix all filling ingredients well and set aside.

Sift dry ingredients together (for crust). Add remaining ingredients exept oil and powdered sugar; mix until blended. Divide dough into 15 balls the size of walnuts. Roll each on a floured board to 1/8" thickness. Place 1 tablespoon filling in center of dough; fold over. Press edges with fork. Fry in deep oil till golden brown. Cool; sprinkle with sugar.
