Aunt Ione's Icebox Cookies

Taste of Homes - Whenever we went to visit my Aunt Ione in south Georgia, her icebox cookies were our favorite treat. My mother later made these cookies, and i remember begging or a slice of the raw dough - I thought the unbacked cookies tasted just as great as the baked - jenny Hill

Ingredients
- 6 c all purpose flour
- 1 1/2 t baking powder
- 1 t baking soda
- 1 t ground nutmeg
- 1 t ground cinnamon
- 2 c butter, softened
- 1 c sugar
- 1 c packed brown sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 t vanilla extract
- 1 t lemon extract
- 2 c chopped nuts

Preparation
Step 1
Sift together first 5 ingrediets; set aside. In a bowl, cream butter & sugars. Add eggs, vanilla & lemon extract; beat well. Add dry ingredients; mix well. Stir in nuts.
Divide dough into four parts and shape into 1 1/2 x 11" rolls. Wrap in foil and chill overnight. Slice cookies 3/8" thick. Bake on greased baking sheets 350* for 10 min.
