Ingredients
- 8 cups flour
- 1 pound unsalted butter
- 1 pint sour cream (16 ounces)
- 12 large egg yolks
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 2 packages yeast, dissolved in 1/2 cup hot water with 1 teaspoon sugar
- 2 1/2 pounds walnuts

Step 1
Cut flour and butter together, crumble together, make well on each side, add sour cream in each – egg yolks, sugar and yeast, beat until mixed well, put in large bowl, cover and let rise double.
Preheat oven to 200 degrees, turn off, let rise inside oven 1 hour.
Filling: Beat 12 egg whites stiff, grind nutmeats and add sugar to taste. Keep some nuts (6 cups) add rest to egg whites and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Spread: 1 1/2 cups wet onto dough then 1 cup dry. Roll up and place in pans, cover and let rise again until it fills pan (1 hours in oven). Before baking wash with egg yolks and milk.
