Ingredients
- 2 C sifted flour
- 1 1/2 C sugar
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 C cooking oil
- 7 unbeaten egg yolks
- 3/4 C cold water
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. orange or lemon extract
- 1 C egg whites
- 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar

Preparation
Step 1
Mix together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Make a well and add, in order, cooking oil, egg yolks, cold water, vanilla and lemon/orange extract. In another bowl, mix cream of tartar and egg whites. Beat very, very stiff. Fold into other batter. Bake for 55 minutes at 325° and last 5 minutes at 350° in a 10” fluted cake pan.
