Virginia's Peanut Patties

Ingredients

• 3 cups sugar
• 1 cup light corn syrup
• 1 cup water
• 1 lb. (3 1/4 c) raw peanuts
• 6 drops red food coloring
• 1/4 cup butter
• pinch salt

Preparation

Step 1

Bring sugar, syrup and water to boil over medium heat. Add peanuts and food coloring. Cook to hard ball stage. Add butter and salt. Beat until thickened and no longer glossy. Pour out onto buttered foil. When hardened, break into pieces.
