Granny's Oatmeal Cookies

Granny (Dorothy Putman) always kept a bag of these in the freezer. They taste wonderful at any time, but especially frozen! She was famous for her oatmeal cookies!

Ingredients
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 eggs
- 3 cups oatmeal
- 1 heaping cup chopped pecans

Preparation
Step 1
Cream shortening and sugars until light and fluffy. Mix in flour, salt and soda. Add eggs, one at a time, until well blended. Stir in oatmeal and nuts. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto cookie sheets covered with baking parchment about 2" apart. Bake at 350 degrees until done.
