Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. Shortening
  • 1/2 c. Sugar
  • 1/2 c. Brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 c. Peanut butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/4 c. Sifted flour
  • 1/2 tsp. Baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. Salt
  • 1 6-oz. Pkg. Semi-sweet chocolate chips

Step 1

Cream shortening, sugars and peanut butter thoroughly. Add egg. Beat until light and fluffy. Mix and sift flour, baking soda and salt. Add to egg mixture and blend well. Roll dough into an oblong, ¼ inch thick. Melt chocolate chips over hot water or in microwave. Cool slightly, and spread in a thin layer on rolled dough. Roll up jelly-roll fashion, chill dough. Slice dough into ¼ inch slices. Place on an ungreased baking sheet, and bake 10-12 minutes at 375 degrees.
