Ingredients

  • DOUGH:
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • Mix well, chill for 1 hour. Divide in half and roll out.
  • FILLING:
  • 7 oz. Dates, chopped
  • 1 t. Lemon Peel
  • 1/2 C. Sugar
  • 1/8 t. Salt
  • 1/3 C. Water
  • 1 C. Pecans, chopped
  • In saucepan, simmer first 5 ingredients for five minutes. Stir constantly and add pecans. Allow to cool.

Preparation

Step 1

*Spread nut mixture over the the 2 rolled out dough pieces. Roll into a jelly roll.
*Wrap in plastic wrap.
*Chill overnight.
*Cut rolls in 1/8" slices.

BAKE at 375 on greased sheets for 8-10 minutes.
