Ingredients

  • 1/4 lb ground pork
  • 1/2 C carrots, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp gingerroot, grated
  • 24 wonton wrappers
  • 2 C water
  • 2 cans chicken broth (14 oz / 398 ml)
  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • 4 green onions, finely chopped

Preparation

Step 1

In a small bowl; combine pork, carrots and ginger. Blend thoroughly. Fill wontons according to package directions.

Add water to dutch over, place a steamer basket inside. Arrange wontons in single layer in basket - do not stack. Bring water to boil over medium-high heat. Cover and steam 13 minutes (add 1/2 cup (125 ml) additional water, if needed, after 8 minutes to keep from boiling dry).

Remove basket from dutch oven. Discard any remaining water. To dutch oven, add broth and bring to boil over high heat. Add wontons. Return just to boil. Remove dutch oven from heat and remove wontons from broth with slotted spoon. Place wontons in individual bowls. Add soy sauce to broth and spoon 3/4 cup (175 ml) broth over each serving of wontons. Sprinkle with green onion.
