Preparation

Step 1

Sift flour, baking powder, salt. Mix shortening with sugar, egg and vanilla until very light and fluffy. Mix in flour mixture alternately with milk. Refrigerate dough until easy to handle. On lightly floured surface, roll half or third of dough at a time, keeping rest in refrigerator. For crisp cookies, roll paper thin. For softer cookies, roll 1/8" to 1/4". With floured cutter, cut into desired shapes. Arrange 1/2" apart on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake 9 minutes until delicate brown at 400.
