Preparation

Step 1

preheat oven 350*
grease a 9x13 pan
combine the flour, sugar, and baking soda in a large bowl, set aside
combine the water, butter, shortening and cocoa in a saucepan
bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring frequently
pour the cocoa mixture into the flour mixture and beat until blended
add the buttermilk, eggs and vanilla and beat until well blended
pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake until a toothpick come out clean
about 30 minutes
cool the cake completely in he pan before icing
ICING
combine the butter, milk and cocoa in a large saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat
stir occasionally
remove the saucepan from heat, stir in powdered sugar and vanilla and beat until smooth
stir in pecans and spread over top of cake
