Brisket (Pioneer Woman)

Use large foil pan with old teflon cookie sheet underneath for support (others are too big to fit in fridge)
Use larger ones for cooking.

Ingredients

  • Brisket
  • 2 cans Beef consomme
  • 2 C Soy sauce
  • Juice of 2 lemons
  • 5 garlic cloves, peeled and crushed
  • 2 TBLS liquid smoke (use less)

Preparation

Step 1

Add all ingredients to pan except brisket. Stir to combine.
Add brisket to pan, fat side up. Pour a little of the sauce over brisket.
Cover with foil and refrierate for at least 24 hours.

Bake in 300º oven, still slightly covered for 40 min per pound (usually around 7 hours)
Check for tenderness and if it's not quite right, cook another hour.

When done, remove brisket to cutting board and cut off fat. Slice against the grain and serve with the jus.

Pour jus in separate container and refrigerate overnight. Skim off congealed fat.
Reheat meat in jus.
