These Potatoes Au Gratin are perfect when you are serving a crowd. I put a small amount of sauce between each layer and used garlic powder instead of garlic cloves, if I don't have any fresh garlic at home.

  • 1 1 1 cup milk
  • 3/4 3/4 3/4 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 1/4 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 1/8 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 5 5 5 large potatoes, sliced

Step 1

Preheat oven to 400°F. Generously grease 12 muffin cup.

Heat butter in a small sauce pan over medium heat. Add garlic. Cook stirring until frothy, about one minute. Add flour. Cook stirring one minute more. Slowly add milk, stirring constantly until sauce is smooth and thick, about 5 to 6 minutes. Remove from heat. Stir in 1/2 cup cheese until melted. Stir in salt and pepper

Stack potato slices into muffin cups and spoon the cheese sauce over potatoes.Top each with 1 teaspoon cheese

Bake until potatoes are tender and browned about 25 minutes. Let cool in cups for about 5 minutes. Loosen the potato muffins with a knife and remove from cups and serve.
