Bread Pudding

This is the recipe of the famous Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles (now closed)

Ingredients

• 6 eggs
• 1 quart milk
• 1 tsp vanilla
• 3/4 cup sugar
• 1/2 tsp nutmeg
• 6 thick slices egg bread, diced (or 12 regular size slices egg bread, diced)
• coconut, cherries, raisins or other fruit, if desired

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F

In a large bowl, beat the eggs. Beat in the milk, vanilla, sugar and nutmeg. Mix in bread cubes. Add cherries, raisins or other fruit, if desired. Turn into a greased 2 quart baking dish and sprinkle with cinnamon and coconut, if desired.

Bake for 45 minutes, or until set.
