Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 c. quick-cooking oats
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. butter, at room temperature
  • 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. milk chocolate chips
  • 1 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips

Step 1

Put oats in food processor and process until finely chopped. In medium bowl, combine flour, soda and salt; stir in chopped oats.

In large bowl, beat butter and both sugars until fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Add flour mixture and stir until just blended. Stir in both chocolate chips.

Drop mounds of dough over entire surface of parchment lined 15 1/2' X 10 1/2" X 1" jellyroll pan. Using fingertips, press dough evenly in pan and smooth surface with metal spatula. (Dough doesn't completely fill pan; the odd small gap will fill in
when dough spreads during baking.)

Bake at 350 degrees for 13-15 minutes or until golden around edges. Let cool in pan on rack for 15 minutes, then cut into bars. Transfer bars to rack and let cool.
