Spoon Bread

Ingredients

• 1 (1 lb) can cream style corn
• 3/4 cup milk
• 1/3 cup shortening
• 2 eggs, lightly beaten
• 1 cup cornmeal
• 1/2 tsp soda
• 1 tsp baking powder
• 1 tsp salt
• 1 (4 oz) can diced green chiles, drained
• 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F

Combine corn, milk, shortening, eggs, cornmeal, soda, baking powder, salt, drained chiles, and cheese and mix well. Pour into greased 9-inch square pan. Bake for 45 minutes, until golden.
