Chewy Chocolate-cherry Oatmeal Cookies

If you like tradition, feel free to use just raisins. For chewy cookies, bake the minimum time.

Ingredients
- 3 c. flour
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 c/ packed brown sugar
- 1 1/2 c. margarine, softened
- 4 large eggs
- 4 tsp. vanilla
- 6 c. old-fashioned oats, uncooked
- 2 c. dried tart cherries or raisins
- 2 c. semi sweet chocolate chips

Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line 2 cookie sheets with parchment. In small bowl, with wire whisk stir flour, baking soda, and salt until blended.
In large bowl, with mixer at medium speed, beat granulated and brown sugars, and butter until creamy, occasionally scraping bowl with rubber spatula. Beat in eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla. Reduce speed to low; gradually beat in flour mixture just until blended, occasionally scraping bowl. With wooden spoon, stir in oats, dried cherries, and chocolate chips.
Drop dough by rounded measuring tbsp., 2" apart, onto prepared cookie sheets.
Bake cookies until tops are golden, 12-14 minutes. With wide spatula, transfer cookies to wire rack to cool. Repeat with remaining dough.
