Levain Bakery Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients
- 1 cup butter cut into tablespoons (preferably unsalted butter)
- 3/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup cake flour
- 1 3/4 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon coarse sea salt
- 2 cups walnut halves (optional)
- 2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 400
Put butter in mixing bowl and turn on low. Add sugars and beat butter until smooth on medium speed. Mix until butter pieces are completely blended in the sugar
Add eggs and beat on medium about 30 seconds
Turn mixer off and add dry ingredients. Mix on low until mixed together
Add optional walnut pieces and mix. Add chocolate chips and mix on low
Pour the batter out onto a clean surface. Fold the dough together a few times until all the chocolate chips and walnut pieces (optional) are mixed into the batter.
If you do not use walnuts add 1/4 cup more flour and 2 more cups of chocolate chips.
Refrigerate dough 30-45 minutes after shaping and before baking is recommended.
Shape into cookies, 3-3.5 ounce each. Bake 5-6 minutes or just until top of cookie forms a crust.
