- 1/2 CUP SUGAR
- 1/2 TSP BAKING SODA
- 1/2 TBLS BAKING POWDER
- 2 1/2 CUPS FLOUR
- 1 EGG
- 1 1/4 CUPS RAISINS
- 1 1/4 CUPS BUTTERMILK
- 1/4 CUP CUBED UNSALTED BUTTER, SOFT

Step 1
PREHEAT OVEN TO 350 DEGREES. BUTTER AND FLOUR BAKING DISH
WHISK FIRST 5 INGREDIENTS IN LARGE BOWL TO BLEND
ADD BUTTER TO DRY INGREDIENTS BLENDING WITH FINGERTIPS
STIR IN RAISINS. WHISK BUTTERMILK AND EGG IN MEDIUM BOWL
MIX INTO DOUGH, STIR JUST UNTIL INCORPORATED (DOUGH WILL BE STICKY)
TRANSFER DOUGH TO PREPARED DISH, SMOOTH TOP, MOUNDING SLIGHTLY IN CENTER
USING A SHARP KNIFE, CUT 1-INCH-DEEP X IN TOP CENTER OF DOUGH
BAKE ABOUT 40 MINUTES UNTIL BREAD IS COOKED THROUGH AND TESTER INSERTED INTO CENTER COMES OUT CLEAN.
